BACKGROUND: The District Attorney's Office has made many accomplishments over the last four years and is desirous of sharing those accomplishments with the Board of Supervisors in an oral report. We are constantly faced with more challenges in protecting public safety. Sharing information can make all of us more effective. 2 Contra Costa County Implemented a Real Estate Fraud Unit Foreclosure Advisory Program.Foreclosure Advisory Program. The Stop the John Project identifies defendants convicted of solicitation in San Bernardino County by releasing the names and photos of those defendants. Name: Jimmy Galindo Age: 32 Home City: Alhambra Alternative Methods to Balance the Scales of Justice Case Number: FWV1203197 Convicted Charge: PC 647(b) Date of Conviction: 2/13/2013 Alameda County’s Restitution Court program is dedicated to assisting crime victims obtain restitution from their offenders. Alternative Methods to Balance the Scales of Justice Contra Costa County targeted 8 recycling companies in a Metal Recycling Sting. 7 of 8 purchased stolen property. Alternative Methods to Balance the Scales of Justice 3 The Riverside County Post-Release Accountability and Compliance Team maintains supervision over subjects released pursuant to Assembly Bill 109. Efficiency and Effectiveness Under the Paperless Project system in Yolo County, criminal files are created and maintained in a digital format that can be utilized by prosecutors in court through the use of a wireless internet connection. Efficiency and Effectiveness San Bernardino County’s One Call Now program allows office staff to upload victims’ names and phone numbers into the system, which will automatically send victims a recorded phone message notifying them of their rights. Efficiency and Effectiveness The San Bernardino County Gang Resistance Intervention Partnership is an education program in which school security officers instruct students about the dangers of gangs and drugs. An Ounce of Prevention School Attendance Review Board Enhancement is a program out of Stanislaus County that encourages probationers to get their kids to school by offering probation termination or case dismissal. An Ounce of Prevention 4 Santa Clara’s Parent Project is a 12-week program where parents attend classes and support groups once a week to learn prevention and intervention techniques for destructive adolescent behaviors. An Ounce of Prevention Yolo & Sacramento Counties’ Citizen Academies are designed to involve diverse communities in participating in mutual learning about the criminal justice system. Outreach & CommunicationOutreach & Communication The City Attorney Quarterly Roundtable in Riverside County provides an opportunity for the DA to discuss legal issues with the county’s city attorneys.
