HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 12022014 - C.127RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to execute a contract amendment with Ombudsman Services of Contra Costa, effective December 1, 2014, increasing the payment limit by $2,042 to a new payment limit not to exceed $214,709 to provide Long Term Care Ombudsman Services to Seniors, with no change in the contract term of July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015. FISCAL IMPACT: 100% Federal: $214,709 - Older Americans Act (OAA) Title IIIB, OAA Title VIIA, and Federal Penalty Citation Account BACKGROUND: Ombudsman Services of Contra Costa County provides long-term care ombudsman services for adults including mediation and conciliation services, creation of Family Councils for support of families of long term care residents, report investigation of physical abuse of all dependent adult and elder residents of long term care facilities, education and training of senior’s rights, benefits, and entitlements. The Employment and Human Services Department has contracted with Ombudsman Services of CCC for many years. The California Department of Aging (CDA) has sent notification of changes in funding availability for Long Term Care Ombudsman services under Title IIIB and Title VIIA that have resulted in a net increase of $2,042 in funds available for FY 2014/2015 for this contracted service. (#40-009-45) CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Fewer adults and elders will receive ombudsman services and assistance. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: N/A
