BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
social needs of the County by providing TBS to seriously emotionally disturbed children who meet the medical
necessity criteria of their Mental Health Plan, and who have been discharged from a hospital or have failed in other
placements. Contractor shall also provide a Multisystemic Behavioral Therapy program for adolescents who are
involved in the juvenile justice system.
On October 22, 2013, the Board of Supervisors approved Novation Contract #74–315–8 with Community Options
for Families and Youth, Incorporated for the period from July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014, which included a
six-month automatic extension through December 31, 2014, for the provision of TBS and Multisystemic Behavioral
Therapy.
Approval of Novation Contract #74–315–9 replaces the automatic extension under the prior Contract and allows the
Contractor to continue providing services, through June 30, 2015.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this contract is not approved, seriously emotionally disturbed children and adolescents involved in the juvenile
justice system will not have access to Contractor’s mental health services which may result in a reduction of
services and placement in higher levels of care.
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
This TBS program supports the following Board of Supervisors’ community outcomes: “Children Ready For and
Succeeding in School”; “Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing”; and “Communities that are Safe and Provide
a High Quality of Life for Children and Families”. Expected program outcomes include an increase in positive social
and emotional development as measured by the Child and Adolescent Functional Assessment Scale (CAFAS).
