RATIFY a Work-Study Program Agreement between Contra Costa County and the University of California Board of
Regents, including mutual indemnification between the parties, in an amount not to exceed $2,000 per work study
student from the University of California, Davis participating in the District Attorney's office summer training
program for the period July 1, 2014, through August 31, 2014.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The compensation of the law student from University of California, Davis School of Law is divided between the law
school and Contra Costa County, with Contra Costa County contributing 50% of their work-study amount, but not
exceeding $2,000 per student. The University will contribute the other 50%, to bring the total to $4000.00 per student.
The cost for the District Attorney's office will not exceed $2,000 total.
BACKGROUND:
The District Attorney wishes to present a summer training program for students having completed their second year
of law school. The Office will benefit from giving potential employees an introduction to different areas of the office
and giving advanced training in the

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
area of criminal prosecution and providing support for its employees, while the students will gain important work
experience and insight into the practice of criminal prosecution. The County will pay only a $2000.00 stipend or
work-study contribution for each participating student during the time period.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
The District Attorney's Office will be unable to remit payment to the University of California for law school students
that participated in the work study program during the term July 1 through August 31, 2014.
