Bueren, Public Works Director/Chief Engineer Date:December 2, 2014 Contra Costa County Subject:APPROVE and AUTHORIZE Amendment No. 3 to Consulting Services Agreement with HDR for As-Needed Architectural Services for Health Facilities Projects BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) Services Agreement with HDR Architecture, Inc. ("HDR") in the amount of $300,000. HDR is currently under contract to provide as-needed architectural services for various health facilities projects. HDR was assigned several projects, one of which is the Emergency Department Expansion at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center. The initial Emergency Department Expansion project was expanded from its original scope, and is currently in the design phase. The expansion of the project scope makes Amendment No. 3 necessary to provide for the additional costs and time associated with the completion of design services, including bidding and permit phases, complying with the Office of Statewide Health Planning and development requirements, and construction administration. HDR is familiar with the project and the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and it is recommended that the contract amount be increased by $200,000 to cover the additional services related to the Emergency Department Expansion project. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If Amendment No. 3 is not approved, the Emergency Department Expansion project will be delayed which will negatively impact patient care and will ultimately result in higher project costs. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: Not applicable.
