HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 12022014 - C.66RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, on behalf of the Workforce Development Board, Small Business Development Center, to apply for and accept funding from the US Bank Foundation in an amount not to exceed $5,000 for advising and training of aspiring mid-to-low income entrepreneurs for the period January 1, 2015 through June 30, 2015. FISCAL IMPACT: County to receive an amount not to exceed $5,000 from the US Bank Foundation grant. (No County match) BACKGROUND: The Contra Costa Small Business Development Center, established in 1997, provides services to assist micro entrepreneurs to start and grow small businesses. The grant funding, made available through the US Bank Foundation, will facilitate individualized advising and group training in Concord, with particular focus on the Monument Corridor and other under served areas of the City of Concord. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Without funding, training services from the Small Business Development Center to mid-to-low income entrepreneurs would be curtailed.
