APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, on behalf of the
Workforce Development Board, Small Business Development Center, to apply for and accept funding from the US
Bank Foundation in an amount not to exceed $5,000 for advising and training of aspiring mid-to-low income
entrepreneurs for the period January 1, 2015 through June 30, 2015.
FISCAL IMPACT:
County to receive an amount not to exceed $5,000 from the US Bank Foundation grant. (No County match)
BACKGROUND:
The Contra Costa Small Business Development Center, established in 1997, provides services to assist micro
entrepreneurs to start and grow small businesses. The grant funding, made available through the US Bank
Foundation, will facilitate individualized advising and group training in Concord, with particular focus on the

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Without funding, training services from the Small Business Development Center to mid-to-low income entrepreneurs
would be curtailed.
