HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 12022014 - C.61RECOMMENDATION(S):
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the County Librarian, or designee, to apply for and accept an Innovation and
Technology Opportunity grant in the amount of $11,686 from the Pacific Library Partnership, a consortium of four
regional library systems within California, to provide scanning equipment and public programs in support of the
Remember & Go local history database, for the period January 1 through December 31, 2015.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No Library Fund match.
BACKGROUND:
Through the Preserving Your Personal History project, Contra Costa County Library will promote and expand the
Remember & Go local history database by creating a mobile personal history preservation kit which will travel to
libraries and other community locations. The kit will allow residents to scan their personal photos, slides, film
negatives and ephemera as well as photograph their three dimensional memorabilia. Images will be added to the
Library's Remember & Go database. The project will also develop programming designed to inspire the public to
preserve their own stories.
Remember & Go is designed to provide easy, online access to historical materials relating to Contra Costa County.
The database features the Library's collection as well as those of other local history-related institutions, such as
historical societies and museums, in order to create awareness of these resources and increase their use.
