FISCAL IMPACT: These positions are 100% funded by the General Fund. $65,400 is attributable to employer pension costs. BACKGROUND: The Animal Services Department requests approval to add five (5) Animal Services Utility Worker positions. These positions will report to the Animal Center Operations Supervisor and will be assigned to the Martinez and Pinole Shelters as well as in the field to pick up dead animals throughout the County. The Department currently has only three permanent Animal Services Utility Worker positions and therefore it has been necessary to also hire temporary staff to keep up with increased demand. With the current level of permanent staffing the Department cannot maintain acceptable standards of care for the animals housed at the Martinez and Pinole Shelters. Appropriate numbers of staff allows for appropriate cleaning of cages, which in turn helps to reduce disease APPROVE OTHER RECOMMENDATION OF CNTY ADMINISTRATOR RECOMMENDATION OF BOARD COMMITTEE Action of Board On: 12/02/2014 APPROVED AS RECOMMENDED OTHER Clerks Notes: VOTE OF SUPERVISORS AYE:John Gioia, District I Supervisor Candace Andersen, District II Supervisor Mary N.
