Subject:Add one (1) EHSD Division Manager (XADD) position for the Adult Protective Services Unit of EHSD
BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
has eleven (11) Social Case Work Specialists, two (2) Social Work Supervisor II, and two (2) Clerks. The current
Division Manager is covering the responsibilities of both the APS and Area Agency on Aging (AAA). This new
position will restore the full-time Division Manager for APS.
The APS program requires a full-time Division Manager to oversee program planning and operations, work with
community partners/volunteers and educate the public on the prevalence of elder and dependent adult abuse in the
community and how to report it. The stability of the APS program funding is through realignment to the counties,
future plans will include additional staffing expansion and the restoration of access within the Public Health and
Mental Health pools of Health Services.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If the EHSD Division Manager position is not added the Adult Protective Services program cannot meet the basic
mandates to manage the operation in serving and protecting older and dependent adults in Contra Costa County.
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
No impact.
