APPROVE Appropriations and Revenue Adjustment No. 5018 authorizing new revenue in the amount of $119,000
from the narcotics forfeiture funds as follows: $69,195 to Public Works - Fleet Internal Services Fund (0064) for the
purchase of three Ford Taurus sedans and $49,805 to the Sheriff's Office (0255) for labor, equipment and the
purchase of laptops and related for the Sheriff's Community Service Unit.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This action increases revenues and expenditures by $119,000 with no change to net County cost. The new revenue is
from the Sheriff Narcotic Forfeiture Fund (0253).
BACKGROUND:
The newly established Community Services Unit (Sheriff's Investigation division) will provide support to the
community through education, crime analysis and crime prevention to county residents. These services will be
provided in collaboration with other county departments, government agencies, community-based and service
organizations, business and industry, neighborhood associations, and schools.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
Forfeiture Funds are equitably shared funds which can be used by law enforcement agencies for law enforcement
purposes. This includes the costs associated with the purchase, lease, maintenance or operation of equipment for
use by law enforcement personnel supporting law enforcement activities.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
The transfer of appropriations will not be authorized by the Board of Supervisors.
