Approve and authorize the Health Services Director or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract
#26-700-6 with Jaison James, M.D., a self-employed individual, in an amount not to exceed $310,000, to provide
professional orthopedic services at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers, for the
period from October 1, 2014 through January 31, 2015.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This Contract is funded 100% by Enterprise Fund I. (No rate increase)
BACKGROUND:
On August 16, 2011, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-700 with Jaison James, M.D., (as amended by
Amendment Agreements #26-700-1, #26-700-2, #26-700-3, #26-700-4, and #26-700-5) for the provision of
professional orthopedic services at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers,
(CCRMC), including but not limited to, consultation, training, on-call coverage and medical/surgical procedures, for
the period from August 1, 2011 through September 30, 2014.
Approval of Contract #26-700-6 will allow the Contractor to continue to provide professional orthopedic services at
CCRMC through January 31, 2015.

If this Contract is not approved, patients requiring professional orthopedic services at CCRMC will not have access
to Contractor’s services, which may result in a reduction in the overall levels of service to the community.
