HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 10072014 - C.62RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent on behalf of the Employment and Human Services Department, to execute a purchase order with OmniPro, Inc., in the amount not to exceed $187,173 for the purchase of 124 HP ProBook 430 G1 Notebook personal computers for the period October 1, 2014 through September 30, 2015. FISCAL IMPACT: $187,173: 100% Administrative Overhead (10% County: 45% State; 45% Federal) BACKGROUND: Employment and Human Services' (EHSD) existing fleet of laptops is over 6 years old and in need of replacement to support Windows 7 and beyond. These laptops were chosen to provide portability and performance, facilitating staffs access to systems remotely. With over 300 laptops in the field, we are working to selectively replace, based on need. EHSD's training needs have outgrown the existing facilities. Along with that, we are working to reduce travel by bringing the training to the students. Replace aging Laptop infrastructure will provide the staff development Bureau the mobility to provide training in additional locations. This will improve current workers’ productivity and facilitate new workers' becoming productive sooner. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Current laptop computers will become non functional.
