APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Sheriff-Coroner, or designee, to execute a contract amendment with the
Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District (AC Transit), including modified indemnification language, to increase the
payment limit by $555,903 to a new payment limit of $ 11,650,947. Extend the term of the contract from November
1, 2009 through September 30, 2014, to November 1, 2009 through December 31, 2014 to continue provide law
enforcement services.
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% funded by the Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District
BACKGROUND:
The Office of the Sheriff provides law enforcement services for the Alameda – Contra Costa Transit District (AC
Transit) for the protection of the facilities, bus stops, equipment, employees, and patrons. The Office of the Sheriff
respond to incidents occurring onboard AC Transit buses, at bus stops, and other AC Transit properties set forth in
the Contract.
The contract amendment includes the mutual indemnification of Contra Costa County and the Alameda-Contra Costa
Transit District and has been reviewed and approved as to form by County Counsel.
