Acting as the Governing Board of the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, RECEIVE this report concerning
the final settlement of Charles Fischer vs. Contra Costa County Fire Protection District and AUTHORIZE payment
from the Workers' Compensation Internal Service Fund in an amount not to exceed $53,750 less permanent disability
advances.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Workers' Compensation Internal Service Fund payment of $53,750 less permanent disability advances.
BACKGROUND:
Attorney Mark A. Cartier, defense counsel for the County, has advised the County Administrator that within
authorization an agreement has been reach settling the workers' compensation claim of Charles Fischer v. Contra
Costa County Fire Protection District. The Board's September 23, 2014 closed session vote was: Supervisors Gioia,
Andersen, Piepho and Mitchoff - Yes; Supervisor Glover - Absent. This action is taken so that the terms of this final
settlement and the earlier September 23, 2014 closed session vote of this Board authorizing its negotiated settlement
are known publicly.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Case will not be settled.
