Bueren, Public Works Director/Chief Engineer Date:October 7, 2014 Contra Costa County Subject:Contingency Fund Increase and Change Order #11 for the Upper Sand Creek Basin Project, Antioch area. BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) > changing from trenching to open cut for the outlet works pipe installation. Earthwork quantities, and the need to double-handle material due to changes in means and method, have also been disputed by the contractor. If approved by the Board, this change order would constitute a global settlement of all potential claims and disputes on the project. Otherwise, if not approved, the Contractor's claims would remain and the change order could not be used against the District. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The lack of approval would preclude payment of the Contractor's claims on the above project and would delay final project close-out.
