HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 09232014 - C.35RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and Authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute on behalf of the County Agreement #28-661-10 with the City of Walnut Creek, to pay the County in an not to exceed up to $5,000, for continuation of the operation of the Adult Interim Housing Program, for the period from July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015. FISCAL IMPACT: Approval of this agreement will allow the County to receive funding up to $5,000 from the City of Walnut Creek CDBG for emergency housing and supportive services to individuals year-round. No additional County funds required. BACKGROUND: The Health Services Department seeks funding to operate the emergency shelter program at full capacity on a year-round basis. Each year, the shelters provide interim housing and support services to over 800 individuals per year. The Community Development Block Grant program, funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, is a source of public funding providing valuable housing and service benefits to homeless persons of Contra Costa County. Without such funding, the emergency shelter program may have to operate at a reduced capacity.
