ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 21522 to reclassify six (6) Paralegal (2Y7A) (represented) position
numbers 13780, 3912, 14018, 14937, 14599, and 14019 at salary plan and grade QV5 1169 ($3,438 - $4,179) to
Legal Assistant (2Y7B) (represented) positions at salary plan and grade ZB5 1337 ($4,060 - $4,935) in the Public
Defender's Office.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Total annual cost of this action is estimated to be $101,625, of which approximately $23,406 is related to employer
pension costs. 67% General Fund; 33% State Public Safety Realignment.
BACKGROUND:
Six (6) Paralegals in the Public Defender’s Office have been performing work at a higher classification level for at
least one year. The Department is reclassifying the six employees in Paralegal positions to Legal Assistant in order to
align their job duties and compensation with a more appropriate job description.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this action is not approved employees will continue performing higher level duties without being properly
compensated.
