SUBJECT: Recommendation to Reappoint Shirley Chenney
DATE: August 27th, 2014
_____________________________________________________________
BACKGROUND
Shirley Cheney, a resident of El Sobrante has served on the Alcohol and Other
Drugs Advisory Board since June 14, 2011 on At Large Seat 1. Ms. Chenney’s
seat expired last June 30 as a scheduled vacancy and she has expressed his
interest to continue serving on the Board. To that extent, she has resubmitted
her application to us.
RECOMMENDATION
At the last August 2014 monthly meeting, the AOD Board voted unanimously to
recommend reappointment of Shirley Chenney. Over the last three years, she
has served in the Community Awareness Committee and remains actively
involved with the activities of such committee. Since her appointment to the
Board, she has provided significant contributions to advance our work regarding
Older Adults and Behavioral Health related issues. Furthermore, she has an
exceptional attendance record.
While we are cognizant that the Board must first apply the policies and
procedures to fill scheduled vacancies, we would like to take this opportunity to
recommend her reappointment to At Large-Seat 1 as a contribution to the
process. We would also like to add that we have conducted several outreach
and recruitment activities to encourage other residents to apply over the last 2
months. Attached please find a copy of her application for your consideration.
