HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 09162014 - C.25RECOMMENDATION(S): Authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee to execute, on behalf of the County, Agreement #20-1009-10 (14-30-PS) with Contra Costa County Conservation & Development Department, in an amount not to exceed, up to $62,056, for CBGD funding to operate County’s Health Services (CCHS) Homeless Adult Interim Housing, for the period from July 1, 2014, through June 30, 2015. FISCAL IMPACT: The funds requested of the Contra Costa County CDBG are essential to providing adequate emergency housing and supportive services to individuals year-round. No additional County funds required. BACKGROUND: The Health Services Department seeks funding to operate the emergency shelter program at full capacity on a year-round basis. Each year, the shelters provide interim housing and support services to over 900 individuals per year. The Community Development Block Grant program, funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, is a source of public funding providing valuable housing and service benefits to homeless persons of Contra Costa County. Approval of Agreement #20-1009-10 will allow the CCHS to receive CDBG funding from Contra Costa County Conservation & Development Department, for continuous services and operation of Adult Interim Housing Program and to perform all responsibilities in relation to receipt of the funding for the period from July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this contract is not approved, County will not receive funding and without such funding, the emergency shelter program may have to operate at a reduced capacity.
