HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 09162014 - C.22RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, on behalf of the Workforce Development Board, to execute a contract with the City of Richmond, Employment and Training Department, to pay County an amount not to exceed $100,000 for pre-apprenticeship programs in the construction and energy-efficient fields of employment for the period of September 2, 2014 through June 30, 2016. FISCAL IMPACT: $100,000: County to receive Proposition 39 funding from the City of Richmond, Employment and Training Department. BACKGROUND: The Employment and Human Services Department (EHSD), Workforce Development Board WDB), will provide pre-apprenticeship curriculum and training components developed in partnership with members of the building trades and provide industry recognized certificates. Job placement assistance and pathways to further education will be provided by the WDB. The goal is to train a minimum of 20 individuals under this program. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Without funding, programs designed for pre-apprenticeships would be curtailed.
