APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or designee, to execute the First Amendment to Lease with
Shelter, Inc. of Contra Costa County (Shelter, Inc.) to extend the lease for a one-year term beginning July 1, 2014
and ending June 30, 2015, with an annual rental income of $10,800, for approximately 5,400 square feet of
residential emergency shelter space located at 1391 Shell Avenue, Martinez, under the terms and conditions set forth
in the revenue lease.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The County will receive revenue of $10,800 over the one (1) year term of the lease. The revenue has been budgeted
in the Health Services Department’s Fiscal Year 2014/15 Budget.
BACKGROUND:
Contra Costa County (County) owns the 1391 Shell Avenue property. Shelter, Inc., a non-profit organization, has
been operating the emergency center for homeless families from this site since 1995 and receives funding for its
operations from various state and charitable programs. The First Amendment to Lease will provide annual rental
income to the County and will continue to allow Shelter, Inc. to operate the emergency center for homeless families.
