HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 09162014 - C.18RECOMMENDATION(S):
ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 21512 to add one (1) Administrative Services Assistant II (APVA)
(represented) position at salary plan and grade ZB5 1475 ($4,655 - $5,658) in the Public Defender's Office.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The cost of the position will be covered 100% by the General Fund and is offset by savings from reductions in hours
for other personnel within the department. The department is expected to absorb the remaining costs within the
approved department budget for FY 2014-15. Total annual cost is estimated to be $90,900, of which approximately
$22,997 is related to employer pension costs.. The total estimated cost for the FY 2014-15 is $75,750.
BACKGROUND:
Historically this department had four FTEs in administrative support positions, two of which were cut during the
recent recession. The department currently has only two administrative employees: the ASO and one accountant clerk
(who handles invoicing and payroll). The ASO has responsibility for all departmental budget activity as well as all
personnel matters. Given the increase in personnel over the past two years, as well as the added responsibilities
created by the need to track multiple sub-budgets created by AB109, the department needs an assistant to work with
the ASO to take on some of these responsibilities and to provide continuity of service.
