Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract
Amendment Agreement #23-226-11 with Boehm and Associates, a partnership, effective July 24, 2014, to amend
Contract #23-226-9 (as amended by Contract Amendment Agreement #23-226-10), to increase the payment limit by
$80,000, from $70,000 to a new payment limit of $150,000, with no change in the original term of July 1, 2013
through June 30, 2015.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This amendment is funded 100% by third-party revenue from collection activities. (No rate increase)
BACKGROUND:
In June 2013, the County Administrator approved and the Purchasing Services Manager executed, Contract
#23-226-9 (as amended by Contract Amendment Agreement #23-226-10) with Boehm and Associates for the
provision of consultation and technical assistance with regard to workers’ compensation laws and recovery rights
under personal injury law in third-party liability

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)

At the time of negotiations, contract payment limit was based on anticipated commissions on amounts collected
through Contractor’s efforts. Contractor has exceeded these projections.
Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #23-226-11 will allow the Contractor to provide additional
consultation and technical assistance regarding workers’ compensation laws and recovery rights under personal
injury law in third-party liability cases, through June 30, 2015.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this amendment is not approved, the Department will not have access to Contractor’s expertise regarding workers’
compensation laws and recovery rights under personal injury law in third-party liability cases.
