ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 21503 to establish the classification of Public Health
Nutritionist-Project (V9W1) (represented) at salary plan and grade QT5-1430 ($4,452 - $5,412) and add one (1)
position in the Health Services Department.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Upon approval, this action has an annual cost of approximately $108,601.68, which includes $23,055.12 in pension
costs. The total cost is fully funded by Women, Infant and Children (WIC) State funds.
BACKGROUND:
The Health Services Department is requesting to establish the classification of Public Health Nutritionist-Project to
mirror the merit system classification of Public Health Nutritionist. The new position will be assigned to the Women,
Infant and Children's (WIC) Program in Public Health and is funded through State grants on an annual basis. Duties
include developing, implementing and promoting the nutrition component of the WIC Program and providing
individual and group nutrition counseling, nutrition education, and referrals to other services to eligible program
participants and their families.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
approval, this action has an annual cost of approximately $108,601.68 which is entirely offset by the State's
Women, Infant and Children's grant funds. It is necessary to establish the classification and fill the newly added
position relatively soon in order to take advantage of the already approved 2014-2015 grant funds.
If this action is not approved, the WIC Program will lose grant funds already approved by the State.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this action is not approved, the WIC Program will lose grant funds already approved by the State for 2014-2015
year.
