HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 08122014 - C.41RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and Authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Agreement #20-1004-13 (14-56 ESG), with the Contra Costa County Department of Conservation & Development for funding from the Emergency Shelter Grant program, in an amount not to exceed up to $84,025, for the operation of the County’s Behavioral Health Services Division, Homeless Shelter Program at the Richmond and Concord sites for the period from July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015. FISCAL IMPACT: The funds requested of the ESG are essential to providing adequate emergency housing and supportive services to individuals year-round. County General Funds committed to the operation of the shelter will be used to fulfill the 100% match requirement. No additional appropriation needed. BACKGROUND: The Health Services Department has continued to seek funding to operate the emergency shelter program at full capacity on a year-round basis. Current funding sources are not adequate for operations of the shelters at full capacity on a year-round basis. Approval of Agreement #20-1004-13 will allow the County to receive ESG funding from the Contra Costa Department of Conservation & Development, for continuous services and operation of the County’s Behavioral Health Services Division, Homeless Shelter Program at the Richmond and Concord sites and to perform all responsibilities CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this Agreement is not approved, County will not receive funding and without such funding, the emergency shelter program may have to operate at a reduced capacity.
