HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 08122014 - C.37RECOMMENDATION(S): ADOPT Resolution No. 2014/280 authorizing the Sheriff-Coroner, or designee, to apply for and accept the California Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) 2014 Emergency Management Performance Grant in an initial allocation of $352,299 to develop and maintain the level of capability to prepare for, mitigate, respond to, and recover from emergencies and disasters for the period beginning July 1, 2014 through the end of grant funding availability. FISCAL IMPACT: $352,299; 100% Federal with the State as the fiscal agent. Grant requires in-kind match in the amount of the grant award, which is currently budgeted. (CFDA# 97.042) BACKGROUND: The Operational Area of Contra Costa County has received Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) funds from the California Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) for several years. The continuation of this program is critical to maintaining the quality and quantity of emergency management programs provided within the County. Up to $48,600 from this grant will be passed on to other municipalities within the County. The initial Emergency Management Performance Grant program allocation provided to the County by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and sub-granted through the State of California is $352,299 with possible additional funding.
