HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 08122014 - C.36RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director or his designee, to accept on behalf of the County, Grant Agreement #28-640-3 from Metropolitan Transportation Commission, in an amount not to exceed $35,000, for the County’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Project for the period July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015. FISCAL IMPACT: Acceptance of this Agreement will result in a total of $35,000 from Metropolitan Transportation Commission. No County funds are required. These funds will allow the County to provide 8 bicycle and pedestrian safety presentations to reach at least 150 third and fourth-grade students; 4 bicycle and pedestrian safety assemblies to reach at least 250 middle school students; 6 information tables to reach at least 300 middle school students; 5 campus events to reach at least 200 middle school students; 2-4 safe bicycling or walking events with school and community partners; and provide approximately 500 helmets to children of low-income families in Contra Costa County. Approval of the Grant Agreement #28-640-3 will allow the County to provide bicycle and pedestrian education services through June 30, 2015. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this grant agreement is not accepted, the additional bicycle and pedestrian safety projects would be delayed or not carried out.
