HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 08122014 - C.34RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Agricultural Commissioner, or designee to execute a contract with the California Department of Food and Agriculture, to reimburse the County an amount not to exceed $1,001, to provide labor and equipment necessary to perform nursery inspections and enforcement activities within the county for the period of July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015. FISCAL IMPACT: This action provides reimbursement, not to exceed $1001.00 from the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) for departmental expenses incurred during the agreement period for visual surveys of nurseries and to enforce all laws and regulations pertaining to nursery stock, including licensing requirements in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding between the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) and the California Agricultural Commissioner and Sealers Association (CACASA) entitled "State-County Nursery Inspection Program. Approval of this agreement will provide revenue for the Department to fulfill the requirements of the agreement. Agreement is fully funded by the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA). No county match of funds is required nor does this involve grant money. The work helps to ensure that certain regulatory requirements of the plant nursery industry are met that protects consumers and stop and/or slow the spread of exotic invasive species that may be present on certain host material. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: A negative action would cause minor departmental revenue loss. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: None
