FISCAL IMPACT: Medical Malpractice Internal Service Fund BACKGROUND: Attorney W. David Walker, defense counsel for the County, has advised the County Administrator that within authorization the statute of limitation be extended to address ongoing settlement negotiations of the claim of Brian Cuevas Ontiveros v Contra Costa County. The Board's July 28, 2014 closed session vote was: Supervisors Gioia, Andersen, Piepho, Mitchoff and Glover - Yes. This action is taken so that the July 28, 2014 closed session vote of this Board to extend the statute of limitation is known publicly. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Inability to promote the possibility of settlement.
