APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Agricultural Commissioner or his designee, to execute Agreement #14-0241-SA
with the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) for regulatory work for the Organic Program and
reimbursement in an amount not to exceed $5,240 and for the period of July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015
FISCAL IMPACT:
Approval of this agreement will provide revenue for the Department to fulfill the requirements of the agreement.
Agreement is fully funded by the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) for an amount not to
exceed $5240. No county match of funds is required nor does this involve grant money. This amount has been
budgeted for FY14/15.
BACKGROUND:
The County Department of Agriculture enforces a variety of laws and regulations regarding the production and sale
of agriculturally grown products. Agreement #14-0241-SA provides reimbursement of costs incurred in the
enforcement of the California Organic Foods Act (Chapter 10 of Division 17). Those functions of enforcement
include registrations and amendments, spot inspections, soil and tissue sampling, and complaint investigations.
