HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 08052014 - C.12RECOMMENDATION(S): ADOPT Ordinance No. 2014-15, to repeal Chapter 26-8 of the County Ordinance Code, thereby abolishing the Human Relations Commission. FISCAL IMPACT: No fiscal impact, as the Commission has not been active since 2007 and was abolished by the Board in 2009. BACKGROUND: On August 15, 2007, the County Administrator suspended the activities of the Human Relations Commission pending a comprehensive review of their activities. On November 3, 2009, the Board of Supervisors adopted Resolution No. 2009/513, which abolished 19 boards, committees and commissions including the Human Relations Commission. To resolve the current discrepancy between the County Ordinance Code and Resolution No. 2009/513, a clean-up ordinance is necessary to repeal the County ordinance that established the Commission. Ordinance No. 2014-15, attached, was introduced on July 29, 2014 and is recommended today for adoption. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If the clean-up ordinance is not introduced and adopted, the County Ordinance Code will continue to be in conflict with the Board's 2009 decision to abolish the Human Relations Commission.
