1. CONSIDER waiving the 180 day “sit out” period for Maurine Wamosh, Sheriff’s Executive Assistant, in the
Office of the Sheriff.
2. FIND that the appointment of Ms. Wamosh is necessary to fill a critically needed position.
3. APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the hiring of retiree Maurine Wamosh as a temporary County employee for the
period of August 1, 2014 through January 31, 2015 as recommended by Sheriff Livingston.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Salary costs are included in the Department’s operating budget. There will be salary and employment tax payments
for the hours provided of approximately $33,844.31, for up to 900 hours, not to exceed a six (6) month time period.
These costs will be offset by savings due to the vacancy of the permanent position.
BACKGROUND:
Ms. Wamosh has held the position of Sheriff’s Executive Assistant since 2006. This position requires extensive
knowledge of the policies, practices, and operation of the Office of the Sheriff. Work performed is confidential
and/or complex in nature, involving the handling of sensitive information, requiring considerable discretion,
judgment, diplomacy, and tact. Ms. Wamosh was the liaison between the Sheriff and top management, staff, the
media, elected representatives, state, national, and local law enforcement agencies and the public. She also researched
and analyzed information and prepared reports for the Sheriff. Ms. Wamosh coordinated a wide range of activities
which involved the Sheriff. She evaluated situations involving the public, media, staff, and other agencies, determined

negative impact to the department and the Sheriff. Due to the extensive time required to recruit a qualified candidate
and the lengthy background process, it is crucial the department be able to hire Ms. Wamosh as a temporary
employee.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Failure to receive Board approval will result in a significant negative impact in the department and the Sheriff's
ability to provide necessary critical services.
