HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 07292014 - C.113RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent to execute, on behalf of the Sheriff-Coroner, a purchase order with Highland Wholesale Foods, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $155,000 to provide canned and frozen foods and all related items as needed at the County's adult detention facilities for the period August 1, 2014 through July 31, 2015. FISCAL IMPACT: $155,000; 100% County General Fund, Budgeted FY 2014/15. BACKGROUND: Highland Wholesale Foods, Inc., specializes in the buying and selling of opportunity purchases direct from the various food manufacturers. As a family-owned business, it has low overhead and is located in Stockton, close to many of the food manufacturing plants. Highland is a known low-cost provider of canned and frozen food to the County and provides direct drop shipments of large quantities of high-quality, yet low-priced, food. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this action is not approved, the Sheriff's Office will not have an active purchase order to acquire food products necessary for meals at the County's adult detention facilities.
