Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract
#26-492-16 with Cardinal Health Pharmacy Services, LLC, a limited liability company, in an amount not to exceed
$685,000 for the provision of remote order entry of physician medication orders for Contra Costa Regional Medical
Center and Contra Costa Health Centers (CCRMC), for the period from June 1, 2014 through May 31, 2015.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This Contract is funded 100% by Enterprise Fund I. (No rate increase)
BACKGROUND:
On August 3, 2013, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-492-15 with Cardinal Health Pharmacy
Services, LLC, to provide remote entry of physician medication orders from the CCRMC including, but not limited
to, reviewing and entering of all medication orders into the Customer’s Pharmacy Information System, resolving all
incomplete or questionable orders

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
submitted by County Pharmacist, providing clinical support to hospital staff, and conducting daily briefings with the
Director of Pharmacy, for the period from June 1, 2013 through May 31, 2014. This Contract included modification
to the General Conditions, Paragraph 18, including (Indemnification) to mutually indemnify both parties for any
claims arising out of the performance of this Contract.
Approval of Contract #26-492-16 will allow the Contractor to continue to provide service including mutual
indemnification, through May 31, 2015.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this contract is not approved, patients requiring after-hours medication orders at CCRMC would not have access to
Contractor’s services, which may result in a reduction in the overall levels of service to the community.
