HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 07292014 - C.47RECOMMENDATION(S): ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 21477 to add one (1) Supervising Accountant (SAHJ) (represented) position at salary plan and grade ZA5 1703 ($5,834.37 - $7,091.72) for the Public Works Department. FISCAL IMPACT: Salary and Benefits for FY 14/15 will total $118,020. Pension costs will be approximately $24,552. Costs for the position will be supported 100% by various Special Revenue funds. BACKGROUND: Effective July 2012, the General Services and Public Works Departments merged which brought the Accounting Divisions for both Departments together under the Public Works Department. The old General Services Department utilized program accounting through the use of Corrigo, Access, Assetworks, and M2 to create and track work order charges. The previous Public Works Department utilized Oracle Database to accomplish the same tasks. Although the two Departments are now merged, these many different programs are all still in use. The Public Works Department is requesting to add one Supervising Accountant position so that the Department may utilize this position to learn all of the systems and begin the process of bringing them together under one umbrella. This new position would also help the department's two Supervising Accountants by taking over a share of their supervisory duties, allowing them to cross train on the different accounting programs being used by the Public Works Department.
