ACCEPT a donation from the Contra Costa Centre Association in the sum of $210,480, to be used for the purpose of
providing targeted law enforcement services at the Contra Costa Centre Transit Village.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$210,480 revenue. No net County cost. Budgeted.
BACKGROUND:
Contra Costa Centre Transit Village (Contra Costa Centre) is an area of 125 acres in unincorporated Walnut Creek
and features approximately 2.4 million square feet of office/commercial space, two full-service hotels, 50,000 square
feet of retail/restaurants and nearly 2,700 multi-family residential units as well as over eight acres of green space. It
also encompasses the Pleasant Hill/Contra Costa Centre BART Station.
In 2004, the Contra Costa Centre Association (CCCA) and the Contra Costa County Redevelopment Agency funded
the Contra Costa Centre Resident Deputy Program at the Contra Costa Centre. The program is designed to eliminate
drug activity, violent crimes and other unlawful acts. The Sheriff's Office operates a substation at the Contra Costa
Centre and has assigned one full-time

funding the Contra Costa Centre Resident Deputy Program in 2012 when the Redevelopment Agency dissolved.
CCCA wants to make a donation in the amount of $210,480 to Contra Costa County for the purpose of continuing to
provide targeted law enforcement services to the Contra Costa Centre for a one year period commencing July 1, 2014.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
The County will not receive $210,480 in revenue.
