HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 06242014 - C.92RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Department Director, or designee, to execute a contract amendment with Kids' Clubs Inc., including a modified indemnification language, to increase the payment limit by $32,889 to a new limit not to exceed $1,394,117 to provide State Preschool, Pre-kindergarten Family Literacy, and Head Start services with no change to term July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014. FISCAL IMPACT: 93% State funds California Department of Education 7% Federal Administration for Children and Families. BACKGROUND: Contra Costa County receives funds California Department of Education (CDE) to provide State Preschool and Pre-kindergarten Family Literacy services to program-eligible County residents. The County also receives funds from Administration for Children and Families for Head Start services. In order to provide a wider distribution of services to County residents, the Department contracts with a number of community-based organizations. This amendment is to add childcare slots to the State Preschool program. Approval of this board order will allow the greater provision of childcare services. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: The Employment & Human Services Department, Community Services Bureau supports three of Contra Costa County’s community outcomes - Outcome 1: “Children Ready for and Succeeding in School,” Outcome 3: “Families that are Economically Self-sufficient,” and, Outcome 4: “Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing.” These outcomes are achieved by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood education, nutrition, and health services to low-income children throughout Contra Costa County.
