Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract
Amendment Agreement #26-536-10 with Jeffrey L. Stern, M.D., a professional corporation, effective May 1, 2014,
to amend Contract #26-536-7 (as amended by Amendment Agreements #26-536-8 and #26-536-9), to increase the
payment limit by $103,000, from $367,000 to a new payment limit of $470,000, with no change in the original term
of October 1, 2011 through September 30, 2014.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This amendment is funded 100% by Enterprise Fund I. (No rate increase)
BACKGROUND:
On September 20, 2011, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-536-7 (as amended by Amendment
Agreements #26-536-8 and #26-536-9) with Jeffrey L. Stern, M.D., APC, for the provision of professional
gynecology/oncology services at Contra Costa Regional Medical and Contra Costa Health Centers (CCRMC), for the
period from October 1, 2011 through September 30, 2014.
Dr. Stern has agreed to provide

additional clinic hours, due to the departure of one physician no longer performing these certain procedures at
CCRMC. Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #26-536-10 will allow the Contractor to provide additional
hours of professional gynecology/oncology services at CCRMC through September 30, 2014.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this amendment is not approved, patients requiring professional gynecology/oncology services at CCRMC will not
have access to Contractor’s services, which may result in a reduction in the overall levels of service to the community.
