HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 06242014 - C.70RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement #26-700-4 with Jaison James, M.D., Inc., a professional corporation, effective June 1, 2014, to amend Contract #26-700 (as amended by Amendment Agreements #26-700-1, and #26-700-2, and #26-700-3), to increase the payment limit by $100,000 from $1,750,000 to a new payment limit of $1,850,000, with no change in the original term of August 1, 2011 through July 31, 2014. FISCAL IMPACT: This amendment is funded 100% by Enterprise Fund I. (No rate increase) BACKGROUND: On August 16, 2011, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-700 (as amended by Amendment Agreements #26-700-1, #26-700-2, and #26-700-3) with Jaison James, M.D., Inc., for the period from August 1, 2011 through July 31, 2014, for the provision of professional orthopedic services including consultation, training, on-call services and medical and/or surgical procedures. BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) Agreement #26-700-4 will allow the Contractor to provide additional orthopedic services, due to the departure of an orthopedic surgical staff at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers (CCRMC), through July 31, 2014. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this amendment is not approved, patients requiring professional orthopedic services at CCRMC will not have access to Contractor’s services, which may result in a reduction in the overall levels of service to the community.
