FISCAL IMPACT: $675,000 No County Costs; 100% Federal Workforce Investment Act Youth Funding. The Youth Council and WDB awarded one of three contracts to Bay Area Community Resources, Inc. (BARC) for these services. BACR will provide comprehensive workforce training, placement and wraparound services to 185 out-of-school youth in East and West County. BACR will provide both educational and workforce development strategies that assist youth in returning to and completing High School, and prepare disconnected youth for ongoing education and training, long-term careers and entry into the workplace. BARC will connect with partners from postsecondary institutions to provide pathways to postsecondary education and training, enabling youth to earn a degree and/or an industry-recognized certification or credential in a high growth occupation. (#18-357-0) CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: In School Youth will not receive assistance in overcoming barriers to employment, job readiness, educational programs, or career training. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: The contract supports all five of the community outcomes established in the Children’s Report Card: 1)”Children Ready for and Succeeding in School”, 2) “Children and Youth Healthy and Preparing for productive Adulthood”, 3) “Families that are Economically Self-Sufficient”, 4) “Families that are Safe, Stable and Nurturing”, and 5) “Communities that are safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families by training and providing employment opportunities for youth.
