HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 06242014 - C.46RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director or his designee, to accept, on behalf of the County, Grant Award #28-860 from the American Dental Hygienists’ Association Foundation, to pay the County an amount not to exceed $5,000, for the County’s Public Health, Family Maternal and Child Health Program, Children’s Oral Health Program, for the period from January 1, 2014 through December 31, 2014. FISCAL IMPACT: Acceptance of this Grant Award will result in an amount not to exceed $5,000 from the American Dental Hygienists’ Association Foundation, Wrigley grant funds Children’s Oral Health Project, for the period from January 1, 2014 through December 31, 2014. No County match required. BACKGROUND: The Children’s Oral Health Program was developed in 1977 to provide underserved communities of Contra Costs County with preventative dental services. Diablo, Pittsburg, Antioch and West Contra Costa Unified School Districts, including La Clinica and Lifelong to provide treatment to uninsured children ages 0-19 years of age. The goal of this program is to provide preventative oral health assessments and education, dental sealants, and fluoride varnish to schools with at least 80% of the student body participating. Approval of Grant Award #28-860 will allow the County to receive funds to support the Children’s Oral Health Program, through December 31, 2014. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this contract is not approved, the County will not receive funding to support the Children’s Oral Health Program. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: Not Applicable
