FISCAL IMPACT: $150,000: 100% State Kinship Support Services Program BACKGROUND: Employment and Human Services Department, Children & Family Services would like to release an RFP requesting proposals for the provision of the Kinship Supportive Services Program (KSSP). This program provides funds for the planning, start-up and expansion of kinship support services programs in California Counties. These programs are required to provide community-based family support services to relative caregivers, to court dependent children placed in their homes as well as to relative caregivers of children who are at risk of dependency or delinquency. The program is also mandated to provide post-permanency services to relative caregivers who have become the legal guardian(s) or adoptive parent(s) of formerly dependent children. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The Employment and Human Services Department will be unable to provide adequate kinship supportive services. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: This contract supports all of the community outcomes established in the Children’s Report Card: 1) “Children Ready for and Succeeding in School”; 2) “Children and Youth Healthy and Preparing for Productive Adulthood”; 3) “Families that are Economically Self Sufficient”; 4) “Families that are Safe, Stable and Nurturing”; and 5) “Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families,” by providing services to children and families.
