Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Unpaid
Student Training Agreement #26-467-2 with American Medical Response West, Inc., DBA National College of
Technical Instruction, corporation, to provide supervised field instruction at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center
and Contra Costa Health Centers to Contractor’s emergency medical technicians and emergency medical
technician paramedic students, for the period from June 1, 2014 through May 31, 2017.
FISCAL IMPACT:
None
BACKGROUND:
The purpose of this agreement is to provide Contractor’s students with the opportunity to integrate academic
knowledge with applied skills at progressively higher levels of performance and responsibility. Supervised fieldwork
experience for students is considered

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
to be an integral part of both educational and professional preparation. The Health Services Department can provide
the requisite field education, while at the same time, benefitting from the students’ services to patients.
Approval of Unpaid Student Training Agreement #26-467-2 will allow American Medical Response West, Inc., DBA
National College of Technical Instruction, students to receive supervised fieldwork instruction experience, in Contra
Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers through May 31, 2017.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this contract is not approved, the students will not receive supervised fieldwork instruction experience at Contra
Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers.
