ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 21465 increasing hours of two Exempt Medical Staff Optometrist
(VPS1) positions #7898 and #7769 from 24/40 to 32/40 at salary level 1X2-1934 ($7,482 - $8,259) in the Health
Services. (Represented)
FISCAL IMPACT:
Upon approval, this action has an annual cost of approximately $58,277.86, which includes $14,073.90 in pension
costs. The total cost is fully offset with Federally Qualified Health Care revenue.
BACKGROUND:
The Health Services Department is requesting to increase the hours of two Exempt Medical Staff Optometrist
positions #7898 and #7769 and incumbents from 24/40 to 32/40. These additional 16 hours will increase the number
of optometry clinic hours and reduce the waiting list of over 1600 patients with several hundred patients waiting over
three months for an optometry appointment. In addition, it will reduce the number of Contra Costa Health Plan
patients referred to

If this action is not approved, there is not sufficient optometry clinic hours, which directly impacts patient care.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this action is not approved, the optometry clinics will not have sufficient clinic hours, which directly impacts
patient care.
