Public Health Program Specialist I (VBSD) position #15572 at salary level ZA5-1602 ($5,279 - $6,416) in the Health
Services Department. (Represented)
FISCAL IMPACT:
Upon approval, this action will result in an annual salary savings of approximately $6,429.
BACKGROUND:
The Health Services Department is requesting to add one Senior Health Education Specialist position assigned to the
Public Health Division. This position has major responsibility for the educational aspects of the Community Wellness
and Prevention Program. Duties and responsibilities include implementing health education and health promotion
activities, coordinating various civic groups, community agencies, businesses, schools, and concerned individuals to
encourage

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
interest and activity in the promotion of public health, conducting needs assessments and preparing reports and
recommendations on community health needs and services, publicizing health programs and services through
various media, and directing and coordinating relevant training activities.
To offset the cost, the Department is cancelling vacant Public Health Program Specialist I position #15572. This
position has never been filled and the Department has determined that the Senior Health Education Specialist
classification better reflects the duties and responsibilities of the position.
Upon approval, this action will result in an annual cost savings of approximately $6,420.
If this action is not approved, the position will not be appropriately classified.
