HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 06032014 - C.74RECOMMENDATION(S): ADOPT Position Adjust Resolution No. 21457 to add two (2) Victim/Witness Assistance Program Specialist (65SA) (represented) positions at salary plan and grade QV5 1191 ($3,514 - $4,271) to the District Attorney's office. FISCAL IMPACT: Upon approval, this action will result in an annual cost of approximately $143,632, including pension costs of approximately $32,350, and will be funded 100% from AB-109 Realignment funds. BACKGROUND: The Victim/Witness Assistance Program Specialist provides direct services to victims and witnesses of crime, establishes and maintains working relationships with other criminal justice agencies, and provides information to victims of crime about the criminal justice system. Constitutionally mandated victims’ rights under Marsy’s Law have been substantially impacted by Realignment, which has in turn had a huge impact on the District Attorney’s Office with regard to the services provided by the DA through the Victim/Witness Program. These positions will enable the District Attorney's office to respond with support and services to the additional victims of Realigned offenders. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this action is not approved, the District Attorney's office will not be able to respond with support and services to the additional victims of realigned offenders.
