Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract
#26-748-1 with Mauricio Kuri, M.D., a self-employed individual, in an amount not to exceed $240,000, for the
provision of professional plastic surgery services for patients at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra
Costa Health Centers (CCRMC), for the period from July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This Contract is funded by Enterprise I Budget. Cost to the County depends upon utilization. As appropriate, patients
and/or third party payors will be billed for services. (No rate increase)
BACKGROUND:
For a number of years, the County has contracted with Medical and Dental Specialists to provide specialized
professional services, which are not otherwise available in its hospital and health centers.

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
August 13, 2013, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-748 with Mauricio Kuri, M.D. for the provision of
professional plastic surgery services to patients at CCRMC, for the period July 15, 2013 through June 30, 2014.
Approval of Contract #26-748-1 will allow the Contractor to continue to provide professional plastic surgery
services, including clinic coverage, consultation, training and medical and/or surgical procedures services at
CCRMC, through June 30, 2015.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this contract is not approved, patients requiring professional plastic surgery services at CCRMC will not have
access to Contractor’s services, which may result in a reduction in the overall levels of service to the community.
