HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 04292014 - C.25RECOMMENDATION(S): ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No.21449 canceling two (2) vacant Public Health Nurse (VVXA) positions #8782 and 8302 at salary level QT2-1832 ($6,954 - $9,353) and adding two (2) Registered Nurse-Experienced Level (VWXD) positions at salary level L3H-0400 ($7,305 - $8,142) in the Health Services Department. (Represented) FISCAL IMPACT: Upon approval, this personnel action will have an annual cost savings of approximately $42,715. Enterprise Fund I BACKGROUND: The Health Services Department is requesting to cancel two (2) permanent full-time vacant Public Health Nurse positions #8302 and #8782, and add two (2) permanent full-time Registered Nurse-Experienced Level positions in the Healthy Start Programs located in the Pittsburg and Martinez Health Centers. Per the State's Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program requirements, the Healthy Start Program Coordinator must possess one year registered nurse perinatal experience. The new Registered Nurse positions will expand the candidate pool and still meet the regulatory requirements. Healthy Start Program activities provided to eligible women include prenatal care, health education, nutrition services, and psychosoical support after deliver of infants. Duties and responsibilities of the new positions are within the scope of Registered Nurse-Experienced Level. Upon approval, there is an annual cost savings of approximately $42,715. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this action is not approve, the Department will not have adequate nursing staff meeting the State's regulatory requirements, which may negatively impact patient care.
