HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 04222014 - C.105RECOMMENDATION(S):
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent to execute, on behalf of the Sheriff-Coroner, a purchase order
amendment with Spike's Produce to increase the payment limit by $50,000 to a new payment limit of $350,000 to
provide food products for the preparation of inmate meals in the three County adult detention facilities for the period
July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$50,000. 100% County General Fund; Budgeted FY 13/14.
BACKGROUND:
Spike's Produce is a locally owned and operated small business that provides low-cost produce to all three adult
detention facilities. These deliveries occur in the early morning, making it essential to have a low-cost, local solution.
This will ensure timely delivery of essential food products for meals served at adult detention facilities. The change
order will accommodate purchases throughout the effective period of 06/30/2014.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this action is not approved, the Sheriff's Office will not have an active purchase order to acquire food products
necessary for meals at the County's adult detention facilities.
