HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 04222014 - C.79RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the District Attorney, or designee, to execute a Memorandum of Understanding with Syracuse University School of Law in an amount not to exceed $2,000.00 for stipend for one (1) student participating in the District Attorney's office short term training program for the period May 20, 2013 through March 1, 2014. FISCAL IMPACT: The compensation of one (1) law student from Syracuse University School of Law is divided between the law school and the District Attorney's office, with the District Attorney's office contributing 40% of the amount, not to exceed $2,000. Syracuse University School of Law will contribute the other 60% to bring the total to $5,000 for this student. Total costs to the District Attorney's office will not exceed $2,000. BACKGROUND: The District Attorney wishes to offer a work-study program for students having completed their second year of law school. The office will benefit from giving potential future employees an introduction to different areas of the office and giving training in the area of criminal prosecution and providing support for its employees; while the students will gain important work experience and insight into the practice of criminal prosecution.
